Even today when I think of Christmas it includes the noise
and excitement of a huge family gathering, lots of mouth- watering
special foods, gifts and going to church.
The days leading up to my first Christmas were full of hustle and bustle
in the household.
All the adults were either out shopping for gifts or new items for some
room in the house or giving the help instructions for food preparations
or some other chore that had to be done, just so.
yard to be white - washed and on and on...
One of the first gifts that I can remember from my first Christmas is
a beautiful "life size" doll. It smelled "new" and felt wonderful!
There was no snow my first Christmas, we were in the West Indies, where
Christmas could also include a day at the beach.
Since making my home in Canada, I have had the experience of comparing
the two Christmases and while they are extremely different in climate the activities remain the same and I always look forward to the noisy, huge and loving gathering of friends and family, the special foods, lots of gift
and going to church.
There is another layer to this experience, in that I have learned what the
real meaing of Christmas, which for me makes it an even more magically
time of year.
Merry Christmas, Everyone!

Yes, they are getting noisier every year as young ones and other "first timers" come along, but I would not have it any other way.
Do, enjoy your Christmas when it arrives!

I recall sitting at a Christmas table with a woman opposite me whose sweater blinked tiny lights off and on, constantly; I don't know how it worked, but after three glasses of wine, I wanted to unplug her!
